Hornblower Cruises & Events announces the promotion of Kevin Lorton to Vice President and General Manager of Southern California including San Diego, Greater Los Angeles, Long Beach and Orange County. Formerly, Kevin was Vice President and General Manager for Hornblower Cruises & Events (Hornblower) in the Greater Los Angeles and Orange County. He has been with HCE since 1993 holding several management titles including Director of Sales & Marketing before being named General Manager of Greater Los Angeles. He will be gaining new responsibilities in San Diego including management of the San Diego fleet of 7 yachts and historic event facility, The Abbey in Balboa Park, with a crew of over 150 employees.
Kevin studied at Bethel College, South Bend Indiana, prior to relocating to the West Coast. Lorton plays a key role in companywide strategic decisions, while continuing to provide guidance and support for the Greater Los Angeles/Orange County operations; Newport Beach, Marina del Rey and Long Beach ports with 12 historic ships in the fleet and 100-150 employees.
Currently, Kevin serves as Vice President on the TTMA Board of Directors (Tour & Travel Marketing Association) and serves on the Board or Directors for the Marina del Rey Conference & Visitor’s Bureau, and serves on the Marketing Committee for Visit Newport Beach, Inc. Under his leadership, Hornblower is also an active member of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, the Orange County Visitor’s Association, the Long Beach Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Kevin takes the place that Jim Unger, held for over 20 years as San Diego Vice President and General Manager of HCE. Unger studied at State University of New York at Geneseo. He is taking on a new role with Hornblower Cruises in Corporate Business Development.
